Be A Responsible Dog Owner

DOG VACCINES & VET VISITS

If you're a dog owner you should check with your local veterinary clinic about the vaccine requirements for your dog. These are usually completed in stages over a number of weeks, particularly for any unvaccinated puppy or unvaccinated dog. The vaccines are continued on a regular basis throughout the duration of your dog’s life to ensure optimal health of your dog. Just as we go to the doctor or health check ups, its impawdant for our furry family member to also have regular visits to the vet, particularly if you see any changes in your dog’s habits or mood.

TRAINING

• Training a puppy or a younger dog is always a great idea for both the puppy and for the dog owner. It’s a great way for owner to bond with your dog and set the expectations for all those involved with the dog and the dog itself.
• House training and on/off leash training are just some of the main areas of training to consider. Let’s keep it simple for now!

EXERCISE

• Whether it be walking on leash or of leash in a safe open space, your dog needs exercise, just like we do.
• Exercise is necessary for the health, happiness and well-being of your dog and will keep them from acting out or any destructive habits.
• Playing ball, running in a park or open safe space, on the beach, along side you as a jogging buddy or swimming safely in the ocean are just some of the activities you can do with your dog.
• Always take water with you when exercising your dog.
• Exercise is also a great way for your dog to socialize with other dogs.

HOUSE TRAINING

• Training a puppy or a dog takes time and patience.
• Making a schedule and sticking to this is impawtant for both your dog and for you.
• Its a great idea to feed your dog at the same time each day as well as exercise, potty time and rest.
• Whether you keep your dog inside or outside your dog needs to be trained to suit their living arrangements and yours.
• Keep your dog secure, whether it be indoors or outdoors so you are aware the dog is safe at all times.
• Always make sure you take your dog outside after being confined for long periods of time to go potty. If your dog sleeps inside, take your dog outside in the morning and make sure you take he/she outside before sleeping to avoid having any potty accidents.
• Puppies should be taken outside more frequently.
• Its a good idea to get your puppy into a routine when it comes to potty training, exercise and feeding times and this will follow on through the life of your dog.
• Make a schedule for your dog and stick to it!
